Every key event is still being recorded

analytics.key-event-stopped

Why this matters

Tracking breaks quietly. A form is rebuilt, a button is renamed, a tag is removed during an unrelated change — and the event that recorded your enquiries stops arriving. Analytics does not warn anybody: the number simply becomes zero, which looks exactly like a quiet month. The longer it goes unnoticed, the more decisions get made on figures that are missing the thing they were supposed to measure.

How to fix it

Open the page where this should happen and do the thing — send the form, press the button — with Analytics' DebugView or the Realtime report open. If the event does not appear, it is no longer being sent, and the usual causes are a form or button that was rebuilt, a tag manager container that was published without it, or a consent banner that now blocks the tag before it fires. If the event does appear, the tracking is fine and the drop is real — which is a different and more urgent problem.

How we score it

Failing this check takes up to 20 points off your trust score. It is a fact about your site rather than a measurement, so it reads the same on every scan until you change something.
