Search engines are told who runs the site

Why this matters

Nothing on a site says, in a form a machine can read, which organisation it belongs to unless somebody puts it there. That block is what connects a website to a business: it is what a knowledge panel is built from, what ties a company to its social accounts, and increasingly what an AI assistant reads when deciding whether a site is a business it can name. It is one block, written once, and it goes on every page.

How to fix it

Add one JSON-LD block to the site-wide template with your name, address, phone number, logo and the addresses of your social profiles in `sameAs`. Use LocalBusiness (or the closest subtype to your trade) if you have premises or a service area, and Organization if you do not. Google's Rich Results Test will confirm it is being read.

How we score it

Failing this check takes up to 8 points off your search score. It is a fact about your site rather than a measurement, so it reads the same on every scan until you change something.
